Georgia Angelopolous Workshop with the Chicago Calligraphy Collective

Georgia's ample supply of paints and pigments for us to use.
Mosaic inspired color gradations with the addition of gold which was later tooled.

Example of the tooling on this one.

I painted this from a photo when in London which is one of the art shops that Georgia buys her pigments!

Donaldson, Indiana

I visited Donaldson, Indiana yesterday to gather with two other artists and the planners there for the Saint John's Bible retreat in June.  We will "teach or lead" calligraphy, illumination and making of a book.  Barbara Sutton,  from St. John's University also involved in the planning and leading the retreat.

These are photos of the church within the Mother House there built in 1922.  It resembles a European church and was inspirational to see the artifacts, etc.  I'll post the photos from Moon Tree Studio that is across the street and was built about four years ago to house the art gallery and studios.

I had to take a photo of the rooster- our church, St. Peter's United Church of Christ had a rooster atop the steeple!

Ink sticks -Lucky Find!

When I saw the box and how it was made I knew even before I opened it that it sure looked like a box that might hold ink stones and/or sticks.  Could hardly believe it when I opened it and found three ink stones and several ink sticks!  I've never seen the little porcelon cups before -I guess you can put the ink in them as you grind it.  The box is about 6 x 10 and I came across it in a large antique mall!
